Eviction

This is a quick note to hit the email distribution time for the blog today.  After some stressful negotiation with the doctor and perhaps even more with the annoying nurse, Baby B is scheduled to be evicted on Sunday if she does not make an appearance on her own before. Our own doctor will be available for Sunday.  Evictions/inductions typically begin at 5 or 7 am on weekdays. We do not know the time for Sunday and will not know until that morning. However, induction is a lengthy process and can take many hours to get going. We are hopeful Baby will heed this warning and come on her own before Sunday. We will keep you posted as planned if that happens. If we get to Sunday it will be the big day and we will let you know when it's a good time to join us at the hospital..please keep in mind that this may be several hours after we get there so that we're sure things are moving along. Again, thanks for your patience, love and support and stay tuned.  Lastly, in the home stretch we want to say that if you haven't heard from us it is safe to assume there is no new information.

Tiny human come out of there!

40 wks and 2 days give or take how you want to count it.  Here's the update from today's doctor visit:
Despite our best efforts with walking a lot, tabasco and a few other natural birth inducers we have showed no additional progress with getting this baby to be born.  She seems a bit stubborn, must be taking after Dada in the personality department. :-)

Despite no progress the appointment was pretty eventful since low and behold, my blood pressure was sky high.  So we had more blood work to check preeclampsia levels (awaiting results as of now), a ultrasound to check fluid levels for baby and our first non-stress test.  Fluids were good on ultrasound and baby actually showed us a bit of her adorable little face this time.  She has pretty long eyelashes, some very cute lips and what looks like a nice button nose.  She has some hair but it was hard to tell how much or how dark.  :-) Of course we did not get a very clear print-out as usual because she moved just in time to keep her elusive reputation intact.  Then she promptly went to sleep...which was not a good thing for the non-stress test.  What was supposed to be 20 minutes on the monitor ended up taking well over an hour.  They had to feed us some juice and crackers to get her to wake up and start moving again for the test.  In the end, all looked well and we were able to head back home without being induced.

So we are still waiting for her to make her appearance on her own.  If we make it to Monday we have another ultrasound appointment to check her growth, measure how big she actually is, if she'll fit, etc.  We'll also have another non-stress test then.  If all is well on Monday, we see our regular dr. on Tuesday.  We are tentatively scheduled for induction on Friday the 24th if baby does not make her appearance before.  This is our Dr's on-call day but if things are normal at Tuesday's appt. the doctor is agreeable with moving the date back further (the Braun family history of 2 wks late may play out again).  If we move it back we'd likely deliver with a different doc, which is fine.  If things aren't normal we'll be induced sooner.  And...depending on how mama actually feels next week we may keep the 24th.  It's all still up in the air but we know this pregnancy journey will come to end soon!  We are anxious to meet her and to see her face in person since we've seen so little of her on the scans!  We'll keep you posted!

The Final Countdown

39 weeks today.  My feet aren't my feet anymore.  I don't know whose feet they are but I'm thinking maybe they belong to a walrus.  They certainly look more like flippers than do feet right now.  It has been unseasonally hot the last few days and my feet have decided that this is reason enough to take on a life of their own.  Bulbous at the top with just little pokey toes sticking out on the end.  Flippers.  I won't post a pic here because, honestly, who really needs to see that?

We saw the doc yesterday.  She is a little concerned with the excessive swelling because it is another sign of the dreaded preeclampsia.  However, my blood pressure has been within normal consistently at the last several visits so there is currently still no talk of induction due to blood pressure.  We are continuing to monitor BP at home just in case.  Otherwise, there is no new news.  We showed some signs of progress at our visit last week (Thursday) but there was nothing different by this week's visit on Tuesday.  Again, I'm going to spare folks the details but baby is all lined up and just waiting for the perfect time to make her entrance into the world.  Mama is hoping for sometime between May 10th and the 17th.  Waiting until the 10th at least so we can save money on not having to pay Cobra for health insurance during maternity leave in August.  Sometime before the 17th because that is currently when our next doctor's appointment is and they may get jumpy with the induction talk once we pass our due date.

Work for the Braunster Monsters has been crazy.  Dada Braun got promoted!  He will be starting in a lead position later this week.  We are so proud and happy that he is getting recognized for his hard work.  Once again his hours and days of work will change.  Ugh.  He will be switching from his current Wed-Sat schedule back to Sun-Wed and will have an 8day stretch of work during the transition week (unless baby arrives).  His shift will move back by 2 hours from his current 6am-5pm to 8am-7pm making family time slightly more complicated if this shift sticks around until Baby goes into daycare.  In other work news, Mama Braun's work has seemed to realize that it is now May and going out on leave is imminent.  I'm currently getting slammed with projects that people unreasonably expect will be done before I leave.  Not going to happen.

Lastly, we closed the baby pool as of today!  Please email David to let him know if you're planning to put money down on your guess if you haven't already.

So the house is prepped, the burpies are washed, the puppy is shaved, and hospital bags packed.  We will celebrate Noodle's 6th birthday tomorrow, May 9th, and then it's on to patiently awaiting the birth-day for the new addition!  The final countdown has begun!
